How a makeshift solution
turned into one of the most popular photo motifs
When hurricane Kyrill moved over Salzburg in 2007, it caused enormous damage. Even our previously impressively large fir at the entrance to the Advent market fell victim to the storm. So we were looking for alternatives for "our" Christmas tree and the choice was made to use the tulip tree at the entrance to Hellbrunn Park.
Since then, the tree has been decorated with more than 350 red Christmas balls with a diameter of up to 50 cm.
An impressive picture is especially good at dusk, when the balls sparkle in the spotlight and the tree shines from a distance.
It turned into a magical makeshift solution!
